The National Population Census (NPC) on the 20th February 2017, during the third phase of the Enumeration Area Demarcation (EAD) in IJumu Local Government Area of Kogi State made it known to the enumerators that adequate security would be put in place for them during the enumeration exercise.
This is coming due to the incessant kidnapping and other social vices that has become rampant in the state for sometime now.
According to the Commissioner for the state, Alhaji Muhammad Akubo Ikoye the third phase of the EAD would commence on the 2oth Feburuary 2017 to the 10th of march, 2017 in Ijumu Local Government.
He also made it known that neccessary steps had been taken as contacts with all security agencies have been made to ensure adequate security coverage. He advised every participant to take the exercise serious as it is the foundation on which the census itself rest on.
He warned those preparing for malpractices in the EAD that will enable them to gain advantage to shelve their plans, as the 2018 census would be biometric-based, which will capture finger prints and facial impression of persons during the exercise.
